                                 (갈라진 절벽 틈새에 핀꽃)

Flower in the crannied wall,

I pluck you out of the crannies;

Hold you here, root and all, in my hand,

Little flower--but if I could understand

What you are, root and all, and all in all,

I should know what God and man is.

틈이 벌어진 절벽 사이에 핀 꽃.

그 절벽에서 널 뽑아 들었다.

여기 뿌리까지 널 내 손에 들고 있다.

작은 꽃 - 하지만 내가 너의 본질을

뿌리까지 송두리째 이해할 수 있다면,

하느님과 인간이 무언지 알 수 있으련만~
